Wiring Diagrams
The diagrams on the following pages will help you understand the various ways in which you can
connect a DCT to your television and other home electronic equipment. Not all equipment looks alike,
and the DCT you receive may be different.
Scientific Atlanta Explorer model 2000
1. Smart card slot (Not active)
2. Message indicator—indicates a message is
waiting when blinking or illuminated
3. Display—Displays the channel number and
the time of day
4. Bypass indicator—Indicates optional by-
pass feature is on when illuminated
5. VOL- and VOL+ —Increases or decreases
volume
6. Test—For technician use only
7. CH- or CH+ —Scrolls up or down through
the available channels
8. Power—Turns set-top on or off
1. Ethernet—Network connection
2. USB—High-Speed peripheral device con-
nection (Not active)
3. IEEE-1394—Audio and Video device connec-
tion (Not active)
4. Digital Audio Out—Connect external digital
surround-sound receiver
5. Data—Connect optional VCR Commander™
module or similar equipment
6. S-Video Out—Connect to S-Video input of
TV, DVD recorder or VCR
7. Video Out—Connect to video input of TV,
DVD recorder or VCR
8. Audio Out—Connect to L/R audio chan-
nels of a stereo receiver or a TV with stereo
sound
9. Cable Out—Connect to cable input of TV,
DVD recorder or VCR
10. Cable In—Connect via coax cable to wall
outlet
11. Bypass—Connect an optional RF Bypass
module
12. AC Power Input—Connect to an AC electri-
cal outlet
13. AC Switched Outlet—Connect the AC pow-
er cord from another device, such as a TV
